I Turned It On and Swam Underwater, That Thing Was Bright As Hell!
Streamlight®, I'll tell you a story, I am a Navy Rescue Swimmer onboard a forward deployed ship. Recently on a patrol we ran through a fishing net, a big one! We spent hours trying to get it onboard and untangled from the props and shafts. I ended up having to get in the water to try and cut the net free. It was dark at the time and I was using a standard shipboard battle lantern which is to say a piece of shit to try and look under the ship to see the extent of the entanglement. I had an idea and yelled to one of the guys on deck to go to my rack and grab my flashlight, a Scorpion® Streamlight. He found it and lowered it to me on a piece of rope. I turned it on and swam underwater, that thing was bright as hell!
It was not designed to be an underwater light but that's where I used it. For about two hours I had the light submerged in salty 60-degree water in the worst conditions, rain, rough seas. The light got beat around quite a bit. I used that light and was able to see all four props and shafts and could easily see the extent of the entanglement. Three out of the four props and shafts where fouled by the massive net. Because of the Streamlight® I was able to identify that #1 prop and shaft was clear. We then where able to limp back to port on #1. Had it not been for that light who knows how long we would have been dead in the water out there. Streamlight ® is where it's at!
