STREAMLIGHT TLR STOPS BULLET
AND SAVES OFFICER'S LIFE
The Bensalem, PA police department is crediting a Streamlight tactical flashlight for saving an officer's life.
On November 7, 2015, officers of this suburban Philadelphia police force entered a motel room in search of a suspect who had an active arrest warrant. When the officer opened a closet in the room, a suspect fired two shots from a .38 caliber revolver at point blank range. The officer was unable to return fire due to the gun malfunctioning.
Further investigation revealed that one of the .38 caliber projectiles struck and lodged in the officer's Streamlight tactical flashlight. The light was mounted under the barrel of the officer's gun. The impact of the projectile is what disabled the gun, but the tactical light prevented serious injury or death to the officer.
The officer was able to escape the room unharmed and the suspect was apprehended.
