My Stinger DS LED performed exceptionally well until its demise on the
manifold of my 1965 Rolls-Royce Phantom V. At the conclusion of a rather
arduous job, I failed to remove the flashlight from the exhaust manifold which had so precisely held it in place. Within about 15-20 min. of warming up the motor, a rather strong plastic smell rolled from under the hood sending me to panic as I expected a fire.
Looking through the front wheel arch I immediately noticed a bright light and plastic dripping on the ground. Grabbing a rag to remove the flashlight I was truly stunned that this smoking disfigured light was still on and was able to be turned off by the melted side switch. After the light cooled I attempted to turn it on again and amazingly it worked for roughly 2 additional hours. The end switch cover assembly was missing and not to be found.
Never before have I witnessed a product endure such abuse and still function. It certainly made me a true believe in the quality of this light. I purchased another yesterday and look forward to enjoying this one a bit longer.
FYI, manifold temp. was registering about 375-400ºF at the time.
