EAGLEVILLE, PA — June 22, 2009 — Streamlight®, a leading provider of high-performance lighting equipment, has introduced the TLR-3®, its most compact, light-weight rail-mounted tactical light ever. The new light is designed to bring extraordinary brightness to compact and sub-compact guns used for home defense through the use of power C4® LED technology, which offers two to three times the output of Super High Flux LEDs.
Weighing only 2.32 ounces and measuring just 2.71 inches in length, the TLR-3 is constructed from light-weight, impact-resistant engineering polymer casing. It provides 4,100 candela peak beam intensity and 90 lumens measured system output, and features a parabolic reflector that produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination.
"Offering targeted light in low-light circumstances, the new TLR-3 is specifically designed to fit on sub-compact, compact weapons and full-size hand guns," said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer Ray Sharrah. "Ready for use in seconds, the TLR-3 is easily mounted to a wide variety of firearms and detached with a rail clamp that provides a one-handed, snap-on-and-tighten interface, while keeping hands away from the gun muzzle. It can be stored on a hand gun, for example, so that, should the situation arise, you can more readily identify a potential threat before taking any action."
The TLR-3 provides a run time of up to 1.5 continuous hours to the 10% output level and is powered by a 3 Volt CR2 lithium battery, with a storage life of 10 years. The light features a borofloat high-temperature glass lens and a face cap that is constructed with 6,000 series machined aircraft aluminum with an anodized finish. A key kit with five interchangeable keys is included to securely fit the light to the broadest array of handguns of any light on the market, including Springfield, Glock, Beretta, Kimber, Kel-Tel, Smith & Wesson, SIG and Picatinny Rail weapons. The light is waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes and is IPX7 rated.
