NEW STREAMLIGHT® SIDEWINDER™ TACTICAL LED LIGHT OFFERS UNMATCHED VERSATILITY, OUTPUT PERFORMANCE FOR THE MILITARY MARKET

EAGLEVILLE, PA. — May 10, 2007 — Designed to give soldiers the most versatile hands-free tactical light possible, the new Sidewinder™ from Streamlight® packs twenty functions, four selectable LED light colors and intensity levels, plus strobe, and an innovative articulating light head into one compact, lightweight and waterproof package.

"The Sidewinder gives soldiers additional lighting options and features when compared to the standard right-angle flashlight they normally carry," said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer, Ray Sharrah.  "Whether using the Infrared (IR) LED for night time operations and compatibility with night vision equipment , the white LED for general purposes , the blue LED to check injured personnel for wounds and other medical purposes, or the red LED to maintain soldiers' night vision and for covert operations, the Sidewinder greatly expands the performance envelope and practical application of portable tactical lights in the field."

The Sidewinder leverages the latest microprocessor controlled multi-source LED technology, allowing the user to select between a ½-Watt high-flux white LED (20 Lumens typical at full intensity), IR (880 nm), red (630 nm) or blue (470 nm) LEDs, each with four intensity levels and a strobe mode that operates at 100-percent intensity.  For applications not requiring an IR light source, Streamlight also offers a version of the Sidewinder that replaces the IR LED with a green (520 nm) LED.

The compound On-Off mode selector switch centralizes all light controls, but ergonomically separates the On-Off and Dimming functions from the mode/light color selection.  The switch features a rubber dome switch for On-Off and power level selection, and is housed within a four-position pull-to-turn locking rotary knob for mode selection.  The selector knob is designed for easy operation, even with heavy gloves, and provides a tactile indicator when the IR LED has been selected.

The articulating head design allows precise light placement within a 185-degree range, and the strong spring steel clip with integral helmet mount securely fastens the Sidewinder to a helmet, belt or MOLLE/PAL-equipped tactical vest.

The high-impact Nylon case and scratch-resistant, unbreakable polycarbonate lens are O-ring sealed for exceptional durability and weather resistance.  The Sidewinder meets MIL-STD-810F, Method 512.4 guidelines for waterproof operation, and runs on two "AA" size batteries — either Alkaline or Lithium, which offer extended performance in extreme temperature environments (-40F to 150F).  A tethered battery compartment cap and tactile battery polarity indicators make battery changes in the dark easier to accomplish.  A cord attachment ports in the body is capable of supporting up to 25-pounds.

The Sidewinder delivers more than 100-hours of runtime with any LED color at low intensity.  At full-power, the Sidewinder delivers runtimes of between seven and 12 hours of runtime, depending on LED selection.  The Sidewinder automatically shifts light intensity to the low-power setting at the end of the rated battery runtime to maximize battery life.

The Sidewinder features Streamlight's limited lifetime warranty, and carries a suggested retail price of $79.95.  For more information, visit www.streamlight.com or call 800-523-7488.
